The worst earthquake in around 150 years has claimed the lives of thousands and left unbelievable devastation in Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince.
The catastrophe of 12th January 2010 on the Caribbean island of Haiti, has once again hit one of the poorest countries in the world. The death toll on the island is extremely high and the people of Haiti have to fight to survive under terrible conditions. Additionally, the situation is made even more difficult as the complete infrastructure in the capital and, in particular, public institutions (e.g. hospitals) have been destroyed. Communications have also extensively broken down.
