Regensburg is the Capital of Domains
For the second consecutive year the Bavarian town excelled as the German "Capital of Domains". InterNetX is proud to have contributed substantially to this success.
(REGENSBURG, April 2009) – For the second time Regensburg got awarded the title of "Capital of Domains". With 387 .DE domain registrations per 1,000 inhabitants, Regensburg has achieved the top rank among the German cities and relegated Munich and Bonn to the second and third places.
This happened largely due to the engagement of the domain registrar "InterNetX" in Regensburg. With more than 2.7 million managed domains and more than 300 ccTLDs and gTLDs in the portfolio, the company has become one of the largest suppliers in the B2B domain business.
Since the year 2000, the registry for .DE, DENIC e.G., compiles annually statistics stating the number of domain registrations in relation to the number of inhabitants. The number of domain registrations by InterNetX, one of the largest DENIC members, increased substantially last year and thus contributed significantly to Regensburg being crowned as the domain capital of Germany. Founded in 1998, InterNetX has been growing continuously and established itself in the world of domains as a trusted registrar offering an immense variety of ccTLDs & gTLDs.
