Montserrat forms part of the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean Sea. It is divided into 3 parishes. This lush little volcanic island with its spectacular cliffs and coves has suffered extensively due to eruptions and hurricanes. Following eruptions in the 90's, an exclusion zone now covers a large part of the island, including the capital Plymouth, which was buried by the flow of lava and ash. The new capital is under construction in Little Bay. The .MS economy has slowed dramatically due to these natural disasters.
