.CO Launch in Five Steps
To ensure the stable and orderly distribution of domains, a multi-phase launch plan has been established:
- Third-Level Transition: February 7, 2010
InterNetX is accredited by .CO Internet S.A.S. Therefore you can easily
transfer your existing third-level domains to us. At the same time, new
third-level .CO domains can also be registered through InterNetX. Only
non-restricted third-level domains under .COM.CO, .NOM.CO, .NET.CO
are available for registration.
- Grandfathering: March 1- 31, 2010*
Owners of existing third-level .CO domains can register the
corresponding second-level .CO domains. The third-level domains
must have been registered and active prior to July 30, 2008. Only
non-restricted (.COM.CO, .NOM.CO, .NET.CO) domains may be
grandfathered.
- Sunrise A / Sunrise B: April 1 - June 10, 2010*
During Sunrise A, only owners of Columbian trademarks can register
the corresponding second level domains under .CO.
In Sunrise B, registration is open to trademark owners worldwide –
giving them the possibility to register .CO domains before any other
interested party.
Any matching applications for the same domain go to auction.The
applications for trademark domains will be validated through Deloitte.
- Landrush: June 21 - July 13, 2010*
In the Landrush Phase, applications for .CO domains with a high
commercial value can be submitted. Domains are allocated at the
end of the phase and any matching applications for the same domain
go to auction.
- General Availability: July 20, 2010*
Registration of .CO domains is open to the general public. Domains
are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
