Optimum Load Balancing

With two redundant web servers and a dedicated database server, the load balancer including firewall ensures optimal load distribution. The load balancing solution is ideal for Internet projects with high volumes of requests, like online forums, virtual market places or online shops.

To deal with traffic economically, InterNetX utilizes an optimized high performance web server that is ideally suited for high traffic sites. InterNetX continually supervises the technology and completely takes care of the monitoring of the perfomance of this tested procedure.

• SSL encryption – for load reduction on backend systems
  With an SSL encryption on the load balancer, you can additionally reduce the load on the backend system. In order to do this, the SSL certificate is integrated directly on the load balancer and the encryption is carried out directly by the shared managed load balancers. The backend systems therefore only need to deal with unencrypted HTTP requests. One IP is nevertheless needed per SSL domain for this - this add-on therefore requires a /28 subnet.
  
  

• Caching Proxy – for reduction of backend load due to high access volumes
  As an extra feature, a caching proxy can be configured that holds up to 512 MB in the load balancer's RAM, depending on content. In cases of high access volumes, this considerably reduces the load on the backend system.
  
  

• VPN endpoint – for secure access to backend systems
  To get secure access to your backend system and avoid unnecessary port forwarding, we recommend the use of VPN on the load balancer. A VPN server, managed by InterNetX, is activated on the load balancer for this and configured to customer requirements. For each working computer that requires access to the system behind the load balancer, the customer receives an individual certificate with a private key. Access to the backend system is fully encrypted and takes place directly over the private IP address of the backend. OpenVPN is used as the client software and is available for both Windows and Linux.
