New TLDs in October

A new GeoTLD and two new endings from the entertainment sector are launching this fall. They are joined by .srl, a new top-level domain for companies.

This fall is going to be exciting: Four new domain extensions with different focuses are entering the Live Phase in October.First up is .miami, another GeoTLD. Extensions for cities and regions have been among the most successful new domain endings. Three city TLDs are in the top 20 of all 700 TLDs, which have launched so far. The regional domain extension .bayern, which celebrated its first birthday in the end of September, is being used by the successful German soccer club FC Bayern München.

Google uses new gTLD

There are other prominent examples, which demonstrate that the new domain extensions have won over the trust of large companies as well. Google's announcement that it would use the address for its new "Alphabet" holding made the headlines in particular. The new extension .srl is going live on October 26, for companies that use a specific legal form. The abbreviation stands for Società a Responsabilità Limitata in Italian and for Sociedad de Responsabilidad in Spanish and is comparable to a LLC in the United States. After .ltda, which is aimed mainly at Brazil, this makes .srl the second domain extension for companies in Latin America.Just as with .ltda, .srl can only be registered by companies with the corresponding legal form. This makes TLD a seal with which companies can present themselves as trustworthy partners on the Internet.
